Safety and community

W’sup is about meeting real people, so safety comes first. This page says what we expect, what we do, and how to reach us.

What is not allowed

  • harassment, threats, bullying, or making anyone feel unsafe
  • pretending to be someone else, or using someone else’s photos or details
  • sexual content or asking for it, and anything meant to hurt a person
  • hate against people for who they are
  • selling, advertising, recruiting, scams, or asking for money
  • anything that involves a person under 18, in any way
  • plans about breaking the law or hurting yourself or others

Report or end a chat

  • Open the chat and tap the person’s picture. You will see “Report or end chat”.
  • A report sends the chat to our team so they can check what happened. The other person is not told it was you.
  • Either way the chat closes for both of you, and W’sup will never suggest the two of you to each other again.
  • You can report after a chat has closed, and after you have met.

You can also write to us at founders@heywsup.life. In an emergency, call your local emergency number first.

Before you meet someone

  • Meet in a public place, in daylight if you can.
  • Tell a friend who you are meeting, where, and when.
  • Get there and back on your own. Keep your address private.
  • Do not send money, and do not share passwords or bank details.
  • If anything feels wrong, leave. You owe no one an explanation.

What we do

  • We read every report. We aim to reply within 3 working days, and sooner when someone may be in danger.
  • We can pause or remove an account, and we do so when someone is at risk.
  • We keep a small safety record of reports and blocks so people who harm others cannot simply start again.
  • Where the law requires it, or someone’s life or safety is at risk, we pass what we have to the police or the right authority.

Protecting young people

W’sup is only for people aged 18 and over. We have no tolerance for child sexual abuse or exploitation, or for any attempt to use W’sup to contact or meet someone under 18. We remove such accounts, keep the evidence the law requires, and report to the authorities. If you see anything like this, write to founders@heywsup.life straight away, or report it to your local police or to the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (cybercrime.gov.in, 1930).

Complaints and your data rights

For a complaint about an account, a decision we made, or your data, write to founders@heywsup.life with your email, the date, and what happened. We reply within 3 working days and aim to settle it within 15 days. If you are not happy with the answer, tell us and we will look again.
